The Vernon County Sheriff's Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol are requesting public assistance in the identification of the remains of a man found in southeast Vernon County in January of 2000. The individual "appears to have died from a gunshot wound to the head," according to Vernon County Sheriff Ron Peckman.
